Raskin Software LLC, a start-up with headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, released Raskin – the productivity application – in June 2010. Raskin shows the computer’s contents (folders, documents and applications) on a single surface, allowing the user to visually find and organize files. Once a document is located, the user can zoom in to preview the document before opening. The Raskin application is inspired by the work of Macintosh co-founder, Jef Raskin and the principles he describes in the book, “The Humane Interface”. To date, Raskin has been downloaded over 65’000 times and counts about 2% of Apple’s employees among its users.
