FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Raskin gets colorful.

Custom color settings with Raskin 1.8

Zurich, Switzerland, March 22, 2012 – Today, Swiss start-up Raskin Software releases a new version of its futuristic user-interface for the Mac. Raskin 1.8 brings improvements in user-experience and usability. The latest version of the “Google Earth™” of computer files allows greater customization and interaction.

With Raskin 1.8 the user can choose a preferred background color for the Raskin Surface from the Mac color palette. Whether it’s white, yellow, pink, black or turquoise, the application is now more customizable than ever.

And Raskin will also follow your System set-up when it comes to “highlight” colors, too. Meaning when a user selects one or more objects in Raskin, the highlight color is defined by the system color preference settings. Integrating ever tighter with the Mac, Raskin 1.8 delivers a more seamless user experience.

Another interactivity feature of Raskin 1.8 is playing multimedia files. Users can now view films directly from the Raskin Surface. Even multiple films can be played at once and no other application is required.

Based on the feedback of a growing creative community of users, version 1.8 has become even more user-friendly. The applications new functions make it an attractive tool for both home users and the creative industry, for working with film, audio-visual material, and multimedia presentations.

Raskin is available in the Mac App Store (single license) or from raskinformac.com (single and multi-packs). Single license price: USD 24.99 (EUR 19.99, GBP 17.49, CHF 25)

About Raskin Software LLC

Raskin Software, a four person start-up with headquarters in Zurich, released Raskin – the productivity application – in June 2010. Raskin shows the computer’s contents on a single zoomable surface, allowing the user to visually find and organize files with the aid of spatial memory and gesture-based navigation.

The innovative software is inspired by the work of Macintosh co-founder, Jef Raskin and his vision of an intuitive graphic user-interface as described in the book, “The Humane Interface”. To date, the futuristic application has been downloaded over 70’000 times and counts among its many fans around 3% of Apple employees.
